V. Equipment Policies

It shall be the policy of the Department of Athletics to issue practice and game equipment to all members of intercollegiate teams. Each student-athlete will be issued practice clothing and, when appropriate, uniforms, outerwear, lock, and other equipment prescribed by the coach. Each student-athlete issued equipment is responsible for caring for that equipment and returning it at the end of the season or when he/she terminates his/her participation on an intercollegiate team.

Each individual using clothing or equipment must:

  1. Sign out all items to be borrowed for the season, and read and sign the policy on clothing and equipment distribution contained on this form.
  2. Assume responsibility for returning each item in the same condition it was signed out (taking into consideration normal wear due to use). Items that may be lost or stolen are the responsibility of the borrower. If a student-athlete loses equipment and requests a replacement, this will be noted and he or she will be charged accordingly.

All equipment not returned will be billed to the student. The Business Office will be notified and will bill the student. All equipment will be billed at the rate of purchase for new replacement items.

Washington College personnel will clean practice clothing and uniforms. All student-athletes are strongly requested not to put personal items in the laundry nets for washing. The Equipment Room Manager reserves the right to open the laundry net bags and remove personal belongings should they be included. Sweatpants and sweatshirts are to be laundered on a schedule established by the Equipment Room Manager. Please do not put these items in the laundry net bag.

Uniform clothing is to be returned to the equipment room or the coach immediately following the scheduled competition. Uniforms should not be placed in the net bag.
