NEU SCE Senior Capstone Experience 2 Credits
The culmination of the academic experience, theNeuroscience SCE provides an opportunity to deeplyexplore a Neuroscience research topic. Inconsultation with a faculty mentor, a process ofactive inquiry is facilitated requiring criticalthinking, integration of acquired knowledge andskills, and mastery of intellectual accomplishmentbeyond the classroom. A theoretical review of aproblem/question in the field or a data-drivenresearch project is completed. Students areadvised by a Biology, Chemistry, or Psychologyfaculty member. Students are assigned a SCEfaculty advisor. Seniors present the results ofthe project in a poster session open to theCollege community. The SCE has guidelines that aredistributed to both junior and senior Neurosciencemajors each Fall. Students must enroll inNeuroscience SCE their final semester. Graded A-F.

NEU 300 Neuroscience Junior Seminar 2 Credits
Neuroscience majors should take this seminarcourse in the spring of their junior year. Thecourse is designed to prepare students for theirsenior capstone experiences by practicingfoundational skills such as searching andcritically evaluating primary literature, anddeveloping a proposal for their senior project.This course may also include exploration of careeropportunities and professional preparation forpost-college careers. If NEU 300 is not offered,Neuroscience majors may substitute a juniorseminar for one of the three contributingdisciplines to the major: BIO 392, CHE 392, or PSY399. If students take a substitute junior seminar,they will be matched with an SCE advisor withinthat discipline and must follow that discipline'sguidelines for completing their Senior CapstoneExperience.
