Clifton M. Miller Library is home to Library & Academic Technology (LAT), an integrated organization that includes the Library, the Archives, and Academic Technology. The building also houses the Quantitative Skills Center and the Office of Academic Skills, making it a central campus destination for teaching, learning, research, academic support, and immersive, hands-on learning through spaces such as VARDIS and IDEAWORKS. It is a welcoming place where students can seek assistance from knowledgeable staff and faculty, collaborate with classmates, conduct research, and study independently.
The library provides access to a rich collection of more than three-quarters of a million print and electronic resources, available anytime and from anywhere to all college account holders. Library faculty and staff support student learning through research assistance and information literacy instruction that helps students become independent learners, navigate an abundance of information, and manage the rigors of academic research, including the Senior Capstone Experience. Students and faculty can often obtain resources not available in the library’s collection through interlibrary loan. The library also offers a variety of spaces and workstations for individual and group study, research, computing, and hands-on learning. In addition, LAT offers a Library of Things collection that allows students to borrow technology and recording equipment to support coursework, research, and creative projects. Students may also access course reserve materials in person or through Canvas, the College’s learning management system.
Academic Technology supports innovative teaching, learning, and research through consultation, instruction, programming, and access to specialized digital tools and creative spaces. Located on the ground floor of Miller Library, Academic Technology includes the Beck Multimedia & Technology Learning Center, the Virtual and Augmented Reality Digital Imaging Studio (VARDIS), IDEAWORKS Makerspace, AV Studio, and One-Button Studio. Together, these spaces provide opportunities for the campus community to explore emerging technologies, create digital media, engage in immersive learning, collaborate across disciplines, and develop ideas through hands-on and project-based learning.
